Galleria Parking Garage
Galleria Parking Garage Expansion and Harvey Avenue Extension
Address: 100 & 101 Harvey Avenue - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Owner: Central Oklahoma Transportation & Parking Authority and City of Oklahoma City
Category: Municipal
Architect: Architectural Design Group, Inc.
Contract Amount: +$20 Million
Project Complete: October, 2006
Primary Use: Parking Garage Expansion
The City Center Parking Garage and Harvey Avenue Extension was a three phase project which began with the phased demolition of a section of the existing two-story Galleria Parking Garage. Two six story parking garages where then constructed with connecting basement tunnels and fifth floor bridges. Construction began in December of 2003 with the Phase I East Garage completing in 2005. Upon completion of the Phase II West Garage, the area between the two garage basements was filled in and Harvey Avenue was extended to the south. This area was then finished out with new entrances to the garages and beautifully landscaped, enhancing its appearance. The new facility provides an additional 1,000 parking spaces, underground access to Oklahoma Tower, offices for COTPA parking staff, and houses emergency generators that serve adjacent buildings. The use of both exposed aggregate and smooth surface concrete, cornice frames, arched bridges, blue tinted glass, and exceptional lighting design enhances the architecture of the structure to create an attractive addition to the downtown Oklahoma City skyline.
