Oklahoma City National Memorial Center
The Memorial Center is an interactive learning museum that occupies the west end of the former Journal
Record Building. Built in 1923, this building withstood the April 19, 1995 bombing and is listed on the
National Register of Historical Places. This museum depicts the events moments before and the year
following the terrorist act of April 19, 1995. The three-story museum consists of fifteen Chapters
containing audio and video displays as well as actual artifacts from the Alfred P. Murrah Federal
Building. The fifteen Chapters are:
1. A Day Like Any Other
2A. History of the Site
2B. Background on Terrorism
3A. A Hearing
3B. Confusion
4A. Chaos
4B. Survivor Experiences
5A. World Reaction
5B. Rescue and Recovery
6. Watching and Waiting
7. Gallery of Honor
7B. Funerals and Mourning
8. Impact
9. Remembrance and Rebuilding
10. Hope
The museum, housed in the once heavily bomb damaged Journal Record Building, also contains an actual
